Steve has been active on boats all his life. When he was a youth, he owned small boats with his dad and brothers. He purchased a Snipe when he was in high school in Bennington Vermont and he and his dad rebuilt it together. After college, Steve went to southern Oregon for a couple of years and worked on the Salmon and Dungeness crab boats out of Port Oreford. In 1973, Steve sailed with New Zealander, Barry Woods on the Arawa, a 40 foot schooner, to Hawaii. While living in Hawaii, Steve worked as an entertainer and crew member on the Teragram and Lavengro both charter sailing vessels out of Lahaina, Maui.

Steve has been doing paintings of the Hudson River area since he came to New York. These paintings are in watercolor and oil on canvas. They depict New York City scenes on the river and other riverscapes out of the metropolitan area.
Steve is currently working on a series of on-location oil paintings of views from the Jersey and western shores of the Hudson.
